AFC Wimbledon are delighted to announce the signing of Brentford forward Nathan Young-Coombes on a season-long loan.

An England youth international, Nathan is capable of playing in numerous roles along the frontline and is the reigning Brentford B Player of the Year after notching up 34 goals during the 2021/22 season.

The teenager began his career in Crystal Palace’s academy before going on to take in spells with Chelsea and Rangers before signing for the Bees in 2021 for an undisclosed fee.

He was handed his senior debut on 7 May 2022, coming on as a substitute in a Premier League fixture against Southampton.

The young forward was naturally delighted to sign for the Dons when we spoke to him shortly after completing his move:

“I’m over the moon to get it across the line before the first game of the season. It’s rather important to show that I’m ready to play men’s football.

“I spoke to the gaffer a couple of weeks ago, and I kind of wanted to build myself up – so I could present myself as a well-oiled, fit, goalscoring striker to really challenge the starting line-up. It’s been an eventful pre-season, to say the least! I just can’t wait to get up and running.”

Johnnie Jackson also had his say on the deal for the 19-year-old:

“We are delighted to have Nathan on board. He is a player I have had my eye on for a long time. He’s an exciting young player with huge potential who will really complement our squad.

“He brings pace and energy at the top end of the pitch and a real eye for goal. He is highly thought of at Brentford and we are very grateful for their help in bringing him to the club.”
