Alex Pearce talked passionately about helping Wimbledon to bounce back next season after signing up for Johnnie Jackson’s new era at the club.
The centre-back’s impressive CV includes helping Reading to the Championship title, so he knows all about being a part of a promotion-winning team.
Speaking shortly after joining the Dons, Alex said: “I’m absolutely delighted. As soon as I got in contact with the manager it moved quickly. We met each other and I’m really pleased to get the deal done early in the summer window.
“As soon as I met the manager, I loved what he was saying and what he’s about. That was the main pull for me really. The ambition he showed me in terms of getting this club back to where it should be, and the standards he wants to set is all right up my street as well. I like to set my own standards in what I do as well, so we’re aligned on a lot of things. Hopefully, we can pull together and do the business for this club.
“I didn’t know the manager previously, but I did play against him many years ago. I know a few people that know him, and they spoke very highly. He wants me to come in and be the player that I am. He’s not asked me to do anything I wouldn’t normally do. He wants me to be a big part of it and stamp my own authority on the football club. I’m a team player and I want to help this club get back on the right track.”
