Cup and Trophy draws on EFL Fixture release day

Plan your season ahead from next Thursday

15 June 2022

This season’s fixture release will be even bigger this time around after the EFL announced that the draws for the Carabao Cup and the Papa John’s Trophy will also take place on the same day.

Planning for your season ahead can start at 9.00 am on Thursday 23 June!

That’s when the EFL fixtures are revealed for 2022/23 and there will be added incentive to stay in touch with our official channels throughout the day as the Trophy draw takes place at 11.30 am, followed by 2.30 pm for the Carabao Cup draw.

Both the Trophy and Carabao Cup draws will be live on Sky Sports News. Don’t forget that it’s an earlier than usual start to the league season as the EFL fixtures get underway on Friday 29 July.

For the Papa John’s Trophy, 16 invited Under-21 teams will be drawn into their respective Northern and Southern section groups, with the 48 EFL Clubs already placed into pre-determined groups prior to the draw. Consideration has been given to ensure travel time is minimised and recovery time is maximised for players.

A total of 35 ties will be drawn for Round One of the Carabao Cup, which will include Stockport County and Grimsby Town, clubs returning to the EFL after achieving promotion from the National League.

Carabao Cup Round One fixtures will take place week in the week commencing 8 August. The first two rounds of this competition are regionalised.
