A wonderful way to celebrate women’s day!

Interviews with people who have played a part in our story

8 March 2022

To celebrate International Women's Day, we've put together a series of interviews with club staff, volunteers, and supporters.

Our chats with people from a wide range of backgrounds shows the difference that women have made in football, a sport that was traditionally perceived as a male dominated industry.

We've got five interviews for you today, as follows:

  • Anuk Teasdale, one of our Supporters' Liaison Officers, on AFC Wimbledon being at the forefront of inclusivity.
  • Maddi Sweetman, our Foundation Community Coach, talking about how working at AFC Wimbledon transformed her life after a spell of unemployment.
  • Jane Lonsdale MBE, a former DTB member for eight years, on being inspired by Sharon Lewis, Chair of John Lewis & Partners.
  • Our Foundation's National Citizens Service Manager, Rhiannon Maher, discussing how she wasn't even interested in football before starting here!
  • Amirah Rahman, Committee member for Saheli and Chai Asian Women's group, based in Kingston, on bringing members along to our Women at the Game event on Saturday.

Click on the links below to listen to the interviews (produced and filmed by Carlo Rossi and Ian Stephen). Thanks also to George Jones for helping with interviews.
