Join us on Saturday 28 May – and raise a glass to AFC Wimbledon!
We’ll be commemorating a special occasion with a celebration of our club and the resilience of our fans to continue a proud history that started in 1889.
It will be exactly 20 years since the decision by the FA to grant the owners of Wimbledon FC permission to relocate, the three-man commission adding that any attempt to set up a replacement club would be “not in the wider interests of football”.
What followed was truly remarkable. Wimbledon fans didn’t give up. On the following day a fateful call was made to the London FA, before on the 30th May fans voted overwhelmingly to reform the club as AFC Wimbledon. Our reborn club, owned by the Dons Trust, rose from the Combined Counties League to the Football League in just nine years.
Now back in Wimbledon in a fantastic £32 million stadium, helped massively by a fans-led crowdfunding campaign, we’ll be celebrating our wonderful club in the heart of our community.
The aptly named Phoenix Pub, where you can enjoy a quality selection of beers from By The Horns Brewery, will be open from 12 noon on Saturday 28 May, so come along and salute our amazing story with a few familiar faces!
We will have food vans open on the day, offering delicious treats for you to enjoy, and you can also stick around to watch the Champions League Final between Liverpool and Real Madrid (8.00 pm kick-off). Book a table by visiting the By The Horns website.
There will also be a chance to join the Dons Trust and become part of the ownership of our amazing club.
We are fans, we are owners, we are Wimbledon. See you there.
