Our manager was delighted with the performance our side put in this evening as we outplayed league leaders Leyton Orient – and he was quick to salute our supporters for their role in tonight’s 2-0 win.
Just shy of 8,000 fans packed into Plough Lane for a feisty London derby, with the atmosphere generated making a visible difference as our players continuously found an extra level.
“I’m really proud of the club tonight. The stadium was bouncing for a game under the lights against the league leaders,” he said. “We knew the crowd would be brilliant for a London derby and they were all well up for it. My players took the energy from the stands. It was unbelievable. The supporters deserve it for sticking with us through some tough times.

“Coming into this game we were five unbeaten so we tried to put a positive spin on it. We took that into this game and asked if we could make it six. It’s credit to the group – we’re building a real momentum that we have to try to carry forward.
“We were outstanding defensively. Our shape was excellent. It all starts from the press from the front. It allowed us to go and hurt them. We managed to frustrate a really good team that love to play out from the back. We nullify them really well. It was our best performance so far.”
Goals from Ayoub Assal and Harry Pell were the highlights on a night of true Wimbledon spirit, with the gaffer being quick to salute both men for their contributions.
“They were really good goals. I was delighted with Ayoub because he’s taking on shots in the areas that perhaps he would’ve turned down before. Pelly’s finish was outstanding. Both came from two really good counterattacks.”
