Senior signs for the Dons

Attacker arrives at Wimbledon

1 October 2022

We are delighted to announce the signing of winger Courtney Senior on a short-term contract until January.

A vastly experienced player at Football League level, the 25-year-old played just south of 150 games for Colchester United, picking up a Young Player of the Year award along the way as he became a real favourite with fans of the Essex club.

Courtney began his career at Brentford, initially progressing through the Bees’ youth academy before going on to make his first-team debut in the League Cup. His time with the West London outfit came to an end in 2016, leading to his five-year spell with the U’s.

Then came a move to Newport County in 2021, where a cruciate ligament injury ruled the Croydon-born player out for six to nine months, meaning that Courtney didn’t have the opportunity to play a competitive game for the Exiles.

Now back fully fit and keen to prove a point, the winger adds to Johnnie Jackson’s attacking options.

Speaking after the deal was completed, our manager said:

“Courtney has done really well in training this week. He’s caught the eye and has been impressive. He has good experience of the Football League and this division. He’s an exciting player that can take people on and go both ways. He adds extra creativity in the final third and gives us something different.”
