Young Dons frustrated by Orient

A goalless draw for our Academy side

5 October 2022

Missed chances led to frustration on Saturday as our Under-18s had to settle for a share of the spoils in a 0-0 draw with Leyton Orient.

Since losing their opening day fixture away to Luton Town, the young Dons have found themselves in good form and had won every game in all competitions heading into this match. However, Simon Clark's side were unable to continue their purple patch at our training ground on Saturday.

Wimbledon started the brighter of the two sides but were the source of their own frustration as golden chances to break the deadlock went begging.

It would ultimately turn out be a game that our youngsters dominated, but were unable to find any end product.

Paris Lock came close when he just failed to direct the ball past Orient’s keeper from close range in the first-half, with our side failing to have too many opportunities to shout about as the game progressed.

The visitors did have chances of their own, but solid work from our defence prevented the men from East London from opening the scoring against the run of play.

Some nice link-up play from the Dons then led to Kai Jennings seeing his effort on goal go narrowly wide of the target.

In the end the game finished goalless as both sides were left to ponder what might have been.

AFC Wimbledon: Harry Griffiths, Mathias Tepe, Ibrahim Bangura, Harry Sidwell (Ollie Downs), Jola Lahan, Riley Horan, Aron Sasu, Kai Jennings, Tom Wilson (Conor Harris), Paris Lock, Remi Onabanjo
