The Dons are back in League Two action this weekend as we make the trip north to the University of Bradford Stadium.
Our side will be seeking to take confidence from our 3-2 victory over Crawley Town in midweek as we bid to get back to winning ways in the league.
Here we give you the lowdown on the Bantams:
In the Dugout
Mark Hughes is a manager that needs little introduction to fans of English football, with the well-seasoned coach having previously taken charge of the likes of Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City and Stoke prior to his arrival at the fourth division side in February.
Prior to entering the world of coaching the Welshman enjoyed a successful playing career for Manchester United, Chelsea and Rovers, winning almost every major trophy.
Of course, in the opposition dug out will also be our former player and manager Glyn Hodges, who was Assistant Manager on the day we completed our Great Escape at Bradford back in 2019.
How have they fared so far?
Bradford City have made a solid start to their league campaign, winning five, drawing two and losing two of their opening nine fixtures – thus seeing them into fifth in the standings.
The Yorkshire outfit defeated Hull City (2-1) in the opening round of the Carabao Cup before exiting to Blackburn towards the back end of August. Hughes’ side also defeated Sheffield Wednesday (3-1) in the Papa John’s Trophy.
The Ones to Watch
Andy Cook is by far and away the Bantams’ biggest attacking threat, having scored 11 goals in his opening 11 outings, boasting a shot accuracy of 88%.
The experienced striker was also the club’s top scorer last term with 12 and has made north of 400 career appearances at a wide variety of levels.
Richard Smallwood was a summer arrival for the club as they look to build a squad capable of achieving promotion. The defensive midfielder played a total of 41 games in the Championship for Hull City last term and boasts an impressive career record.
During his time with the Tigers he won the League One title and also achieved promotion via the play-offs with Rotherham United.
Harry Chapman is a versatile forward who was snapped up in the summer after his release Blackburn.
He was previously part of England’s Under-20 World Cup-winning squad of 2017 and at the age of 24 still has his prime years ahead of him.
Did you know?
The club was previously referred to as the Robins or Wasps due to the fact that they used to wear claret and amber hoops.
