We are delighted to announce that Danny Macklin has been appointed as our Managing Director and will begin his new role on November 1.
Danny is a former Chief Executive of Leyton Orient, where he spent five seasons before joining the sports marketing agency, Synonymous, earlier this year.
During his time with Orient, Danny spearheaded the creation of a unique shirt sponsorship deal with the club’s former loanee Harry Kane. The inspired move gained global media coverage and record shirt sales.
His previous experience in the sports industry also included nine years in senior commercial roles at Southend United and Essex Cricket.
Our Interim Chair Mick Buckley said: “We are looking forward to Danny joining us at this important time. The key aims are to further improve our matchday experience, progress all matchday and non matchday business opportunities to boost the playing budget, as well as providing important leadership and management of all our Plough Lane-based club employees.
“He will report to me as Interim Chair on a day-to-day basis and the PLC board on a monthly basis. Danny will oversee the Club’s business and operations, working alongside the Head of Football Operations - a position we are currently recruiting for.”
Danny added: “I am absolutely thrilled to be joining AFC Wimbledon at this important time as the Club seeks to make the most of the new stadium.
