Jääskeläinen signs short-term

24-year-old added as cover

11 September 2022

We are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Will Jääskeläinen on a one-month contract.

The former Crewe Alexandra shot-stopper – who boasts a career record of over 80 Football League appearances – will provide cover for Nik Tzanev whilst Nathan Broome recovers from a foot injury that he sustained in our victory over Aston Villa Under-21s.

Son of former Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United goalkeeper Jussi, Will began his career with the Trotters at youth level before going on to sign for Crewe in 2017. Aside from racking up a respectable tally of appearances at Gresty Road, he also spent time on loan at  Loughborough Dynamo, Nantwich Town and Buxton among others.

He left the Railwaymen last summer and is now set to continue his development with the Dons.

After completing the signing, Johnnie Jackson said:

“It’s great to have Will on board. After we found out that Nathan Broome would be sidelined for a number of weeks, it was really important that we brought in adequate experience and cover for Tans.

“Will has played a lot of games in the Football League – we know what we’re getting from him and we know he’ll come in and provide competition for that position in the team.”
