Jake named as captain

Duo take on new roles

1 August 2023

We are pleased to announce that Jake Reeves has been named as our captain for the 2023/24 season, with Alex Pearce taking on the role of vice-captain.

Johnnie Jackson recently gave the news to both players as our preparations for the upcoming campaign continue.

Jake has long been associated with Wimbledon and its values, having previously taken in two previous spells with us, which included our promotion to League One in 2016.

The midfielder was a key member of that side and is now looking to write the next chapter in our history as he takes on the new role.

“The gaffer pulled me last week to give me the news that I would be captain and that Pearcey would be vice,” explained Jake. “It was a really proud moment for me. I had a great captain when I was here previously, Barry Fuller, if I can be half as good as what he was like and learn from all of the other captains that I’ve had before, I think I’ll be doing well.

“Being made captain for any club is a big honour as it means you’re seen as the leader of that particular badge. For me and this Club with it being my third time - with what we achieved before and what we’ll hopefully achieve - makes it feel extra special. Hopefully I can give everything as a captain and everyone will be happy.”

Everyone at the Club congratulates Jake and Alex on being appointed into their new roles and wishes them every success for the season ahead.
