AFC Wimbledon is proud to extend its link with world-renowned author John Green through the DFTBA logo that adorns the back of our shorts.
We’re heading into a 10th season of being associated with John and Don’t Forget To Be Awesome, a company named after the phrase used by members of the Nerdfighters, an online community that avidly follow the vlogs created by John Green and his brother Hank.
To celebrate the extension of this link with DFTBA, below is a short Q&A with John Green, who is pictured above with our Head of Commercial Andrew Stead (left) and Pietro Palladino, Commercial & Hospitality Manager.
What is your role at the company?
I am the co-owner of DFTBA.com. I'm also the author of books like The Fault in Our Stars and The Anthropocene Reviewed.
How long have you been a part of your company?
My brother Hank co-founded DFTBA.com back in 2008; I got formally involved in 2009.
Tell us a bit more about your company and its aims.
We're an e-commerce store that sells subscriptions to coffee, soap, and many other things. And the best part is, we donate 100 per cent of our profit to charity. We've been able to donate over $5,000,000 in the last three years to fight maternal and infant mortality in Sierra Leone.
How long have you been associated with the Club?
We started sponsoring AFC Wimbledon in 2014, so we're celebrating our tenth season with the Club this year.
If your business was an AFC Wimbledon player past/present, who would you be and why?
We're focused on giving back to the community and being a great team player, and that fits so many Wimbledon players, but I'll choose one who came through our Academy - Jack Currie.
How can supporters and local businesses benefit from your business? We make the best stuff from t-shirts to soaps and socks, so I think anyone can benefit from shopping with us. And most importantly, we also sell dftba/wimbledon scarves for American fans of the Dons!
