Currie and Kwaku greet cup winners

Report from yearly event

2 February 2023

Both Jack Currie and Kwaku Frimpong were in attendance to witness a dose of footballing drama as we played host to the Utilita Football EFL Kids Cup.

Belleville, Cheam Common Junior, Cheam Fields, Cheam Park Farm, Honeywell, Hornsby House, Hotham, Penwortham, Thomas’ Battersea & Hotham schools all took part in the competition before meeting our first-teamers for photos.

In the end it was Cheam Common Junior School who came out on top in the final as they lifted the coveted title.

Education Manager Andy May said: “Congratulations to Cheam Common on winning AFC Wimbledon Foundation’s EFL Trust Kids Cup Tournament. This year’s tournament was the most competitive tournament we’ve seen and could’ve been won by a handful of teams.

“It has been a real pleasure offering 30+ schools the opportunity to participate in this year’s Kids Cup. I would like to thank Nick Miller, Wandsworth School Games Organiser, for helping to facilitate the qualifying rounds and the Academy for giving us access to the Training Ground to host our finals round.

“It was great to see so many young pupils participate in this tournament, and we can’t wait to see what Cheam Common can do in the regionals in March.”
