Earlier this week Club staff paid a visit to the Dons Local Action Group hub as we got stuck in where it really matters.
Originally formed in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Group has gone from strength to strength in their efforts to tackle the effects of poverty – delivering food packages to those in need around the clock.
Our Managing Director, Danny Macklin, headed out on a delivery run and also met DLAG volunteers who give up their free time to man the various food collection points which are set-up outside supermarkets across our local community.
In addition to this, other members of our staff arranged food parcels – which also include every day essentials – ready for the next round of drop-offs.
Overall it was a humbling experience that once again underlined how big an impact the organisation is making on peoples’ lives.
DLAG’s Tim Marshall said:
"It was great to see Danny and some of the AFC Wimbledon staff helping out at the hub. Football clubs are and always should be a big part of the local community. Wimbledon really are the people's club, thank you to them for helping with our ongoing fight against local food poverty."
