Ben back to bolster title bid

A round-up of our players who beat the weekend freeze

24 January 2023

Several of our players beat the freeze and clocked up vital game time at the weekend.

Defender Ben Mason played his first 90 minutes since November 26, having returned to full fitness. He helped Basingstoke Town go top of the Isthmian South Central.

Having extended his loan for another month, Ben made his 16th appearance for the Hampshire club.

Our former youth team captain contributed to a clean sheet in the 5-0 victory at Sutton Common Rovers, plus Ben also came up with an assist for one of the goals.

"There’s a long way to go in the season still, but it was a really good game and I'm so happy to be back," said Ben afterwards.

The game at Priory Lane in National League South brought together two of our talented midfielders, with a few of our fans watching on and getting their football fix what with our game at Newport called off.

Alfie Bendle went straight into the Eastbourne Borough starting line-up as they went on to beat Hungerford Town 3-1. Winger Dylan Adjei-Hersey came on as a second half substitute for the visitors, against the Sussex club he was on loan to up until recently.

In the same division, defender Luke Jenkins played the full game for Weymouth in their 2-1 defeat at home to Chelmsford City.

The games involving Aaron Cosgrave (King's Lynn Town), Quaine Bartley (Wingate & Finchley), Kwaku Frimpong (Potters Bar Town), Ollie Downs (Fleet Town) and Max Foulkes (Molesey) were all postponed.
