Matchday Guide: Please arrive early for sell-out game

Everything you need to know ahead of Saturday's match

27 January 2023

With a sell-out crowd for Saturday's big game, we recommend arriving early to avoid queuing.

There's been very high demand to attend Saturday's match versus Stockport with our 'footy for a fiver' offer capturing the imagination - and we're counting down the hours until another exciting matchday at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

With more of your fantastic support, Johnnie Jackson's men can achieve a first victory in 2023!

Our turnstiles will be open for home fans from 1 pm on Saturday, so join us early to get in the mood to watch the Dons.

With one of the best food parks around, the Phoenix Pub, and our fantastic Kids Zone, there's plenty of incentive to make it a family day out to remember.

Below is a summary of key information ahead of tomorrow's game.

Returns

Season ticket returns will really help us as we can make your seat available for resale, allowing more Dons to come along.

Please kindly let us know by e-mailing ticketreturns@afcwimbledon.ltd.uk with your name and the block, row, and seat number of the seats (s) you are releasing.

A minute's applause

We'll be paying tribute to Geoff Edwards before the game with fans invited to take part in a minute's applause.

Geoff was previously our first-team coach driver and in recent years he volunteered for the Club to assist with kit duties, helping our Kitman Robin Bedford at home and away matches.

As an extremely popular personality, Geoff was a constant voice of support within the dressing room, working up a great rapport with first-team players and coaching staff.

Programme

Make sure you get your hands on our fantastic matchday programme!

The programme (usual price of £3) will be on sale from outside the club shop, behind the South London Movers Stand, from the Cappagh (West) Stand and at the away end.

It includes the following:

  • Tribute to Geoff Edwards
  • Historical feature on the Sportsman pub sign and Laurie Cunningham
  • A feature on Rosie Russell, our longest serving Women's player
  • An interview with Huseyin Biler

Man of the Match presentation

We're always striving to increase engaement with our fans - and we'll therefore be hosting two Man of the Match presentations on Saturday.

We’ll be hosting the first one in our traditional venue outside the Phoenix Pub with the star man selected by our match sponsors interviewed by Ivor Heller as soon as possible after the game.

Following this, the Man of the Match will make his way up to the Sliver Lounge, where another presentation will take place. Those who have booked hospitality will be invited to stay on for the post-match entertainment, but all supporters will be welcome upstairs to enjoy a drink or two in the Silver Lounge.

To make this all work we’ve put plans in place to make this run as smoothly as possible, so please read our article for more information.

Bars and Food

Our By The Horns Phoenix Pub is the place to be for quality beers. We’ve also got one of the best food parks in the league, offering a wide range of culinary delights, as provided by several different cuisines from local businesses, including the following:

  • MyPie
  • Traditional Jerk Chicken
  • All Burgers
  • Ding Ding
  • Dough Shack
  • Naked Chips

The food park is situated behind the South London Movers Stand with kiosks open until 6 pm - last drinks orders from the Movers Stand bar at the same time.

For supporters in the Cappagh Stand, you can get your matchday pint in extra quick time by accessing our new EBAR machines, which we are using on a trial basis. Fans can buy pints of Lager, Camden Pale Ale and Guinness from the EBAR.

Don’t forget though that we’ve also still got SwipeStation! Supporters can get a swift pint of Camden Pale Ale or Stella Artois from designated stations around the ground, including behind the Ry (East) Stand.

Club Shop

Our Club Shop will be releasing a new leisurewear range in a few weeks and we need to make room, which is great news for our fans!

In order to clear the decks, all existing leisurewear will be marked down from 11 am tomorrow both online and in store, with up to 25 per cent off existing prices.

Our new range wil feature our first ever organic collection, together with new T-shirts, polos and hoodies. We hope to have these available between mid and late February.

We’re also offering our fans a last chance to buy the ‘We Are The Resurrection’ T-shirts and Tracksuit Tops for ridiculous prices, £5 and £10 respectively. These will be in store on Saturday and the remainder will be made available online on Sunday from 9am. Fans have until 9am on Monday 6 February to take advantage, before these items disappear for good.

The shop opens at 11am on Saturday, but in the meantime you can check out the range in our online shop.

Leyton Orient tickets

For those fans who have purchased tickets for this away game, you can collect from the Ry Stand Ticket booth before the game tomorrow. Tickets purchased for the away game at Northampton can also be collected.

Dons TV

Get in the mood for the big game by joining our 9yrs Podcast team pre-match on Saturday. There will also be a post-match show, starting around 15-20 minutes after the game.

Follow the club's official Facebook and YouTube channels and you will receive a notification about the show.

Golden Goal tickets

Tickets will be on sale at the game tomorrow (priced at £1) with the top prize of £100 (all funds raised are donated to the Club), so look out for our Golden Goal sellers on Saturday.

Dons Local Action Group Food Collection Point

We will once again be organising collection points on Saturday with supporters invited to donate food to those less fortunate in the community. Masterminded by our award-winning Dons Local Action Group (DLAG), fans will be able to drop off tinned supplies - with an urgent need for tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tinned fish, tinned fruit, and tinned pulses. Food collection points will be located at every entrance into the stadium.

Access to the stadium

All home fans will enter via the Plough Lane end of the Stadium only. Please note that fans in the South London Movers Stand or Ry Stand can only enter via Gates 3, 4 and 5. Fans seated in the Cappagh Stand can only enter via Gate 2.

Away fans can only access the Stadium via Gate 7, which can be accessed via St Martin’s Way or Maskell Road.

Kids Zone

This will be open on Saturday. Fans will be able to meet Haydon, our favourite Womble, and there’s also plenty of fun activities for children to get involved with. The Kids Zone is positioned on the concourse behind the Family Section on the corner of the East and South stands. Specifically for kids aged between 5-12, it is open from 1.30pm to 2.45pm with activities organised on a rotation basis. Please note that children MUST be supervised by parents at all times.

Reusable Cups

We have a reusable beer cup scheme to replace all single use plastic pint cups around the stadium. Once you’ve finished your beer, please dispose of your cup within the reusable cup bins located around the stadium.

For a map of the stadium, and other information, including details about bringing bags into the ground and our cycle store facility, see our Matchday Guide section on the official website.
