Matchday Guide: Wally to join us for high-demand fixture

Very limited availability for tickets to attend Bradford game

13 January 2023

It's shaping up to be an exciting day at our stadium tomorrow - and we're delighted to announce that Wally Downes will be joining us.

With over 8,000 tickets sold for a match that pitches together two clubs chasing the play-offs - separated by only four points - an entertaining clash is in prospect at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

And to get you in the mood we'll be presenting a true Dons hero on the pitch before the big match, so give our special guest Wally a warm Wimbledon welcome back to Plough Lane.

With Glyn Hodges returning here as Assistant Manager for Bradford tomorrow, our old managerial duo will be reunited.

There's also extra incentive to make a day of it with us as we'll be opening from 12 noon tomorrow, for those who want to watch the early televised match between Manchester United and Man City.

Below is a summary of key information ahead of tomorrow's game.

Tickets

Less than 100 tickets are remaining, so we recommend booking as soon as possible to guarantee a seat. Tickets are available at £2 cheaper (for adults and concessions) if you book in advance.

Book by accessing our online ticket shop .

A minute's applause

We'll be paying a special tribute to the memory of Wimbledon fans who have passed away during the last 12 months.

To remember them we will showcase their names in the programme and on the scoreboard for Saturday's game versus Bradford. There will be a minute's applause before the game.

Programme

Make sure you get your hands on our fantastic matchday programme!

The programme (usual price of £3) will be on sale from outside the club shop, behind the South London Movers Stand, from the Cappagh (West) Stand and at the away end.

It includes the following:

  • Exclusive interview with Harry Pell (also the centre poster)
  • A report from Women's manager Kevin Foster and captain Hannah Billingham
  • FA Cup report from the Women's win over Gillingham

Man of the Match presentation

We’ll be hosting our post-match presentation in the Silver Lounge after the game. Join Ivor Heller upstairs for our traditional presentation with our Commercial Director interviewing the Man of the Match.

Bars and Food

Our By The Horns Phoenix Pub is the place to be for quality beers – and you can also catch Premier League football on TV in our popular stadium watering hole. We’ll be showing the early match between Manchester United and Man City (12.30 pm kick-off) in the Phoenix. You can enter from 12 noon via the club shop.

We’ve also got one of the best food parks in the league, offering a wide range of culinary delights, as provided by several different cuisines from local businesses, including the following:

  • MyPie
  • Traditional Jerk Chicken
  • All Burgers
  • Ding Ding
  • Dough Shack
  • Naked Chips

The food park is situated behind the South London Movers Stand with kiosks open until 6 pm - last drinks orders from the Movers Stand bar at the same time.

For supporters in the Cappagh Stand, you can get your matchday pint in extra quick time by accessing our new EBAR machines, which we are using on a trial basis. Fans can buy pints of Lager, Camden Pale Ale and Guinness from the EBAR.

Don’t forget though that we’ve also still got SwipeStation! Supporters can get a swift pint of Camden Pale Ale or Stella Artois from designated stations around the ground, including behind the Ry (East) Stand.

Club Shop

The January Sale has proved as popular as ever with our fans, with fantastic bargains available through our online shop.

But when the shop opens before tomorrow’s match we’ll be offering a selection of sale items in store, together with further reductions on existing stock lines, so that you can pick up some new additions for your collection.

From classic kits to smart polos, we’ve got everything you need in order to wear your colours with pride on matchdays and for any other occasion that takes your fancy!

The shop opens at 11am on Saturday, but in the meantime you can check out the range in our online shop.

Dons TV

As well as being our special guest in hospitality, Wally will also feature on our pre-match show. Get in the mood for the big game by joining our 9yrs Podcast team pre-match on Saturday. There will also be a post-match show, starting around 15-20 minutes after the game.

Follow the club's official Facebook and YouTube channels and you will receive a notification about the show.

Golden Goal tickets

Tickets will be on sale at the game tomorrow (priced at £1) with the top prize of £100 (all funds raised are donated to the Club), so look out for our Golden Goal sellers on Saturday.

Dons Local Action Group Food Collection Point

We will once again be organising collection points on Saturday with supporters invited to donate food to those less fortunate in the community. Masterminded by our award-winning Dons Local Action Group (DLAG), fans will be able to drop off tinned supplies - with an urgent need for tinned meat, tinned vegetables, tinned fish, tinned fruit, and tinned pulses. Food collection points will be located at every entrance into the stadium.

Access to the stadium

All home fans will enter via the Plough Lane end of the Stadium only. Please note that fans in the South London Movers Stand or Ry Stand can only enter via Gates 3, 4 and 5. Fans seated in the Cappagh Stand can only enter via Gate 2.

Away fans can only access the Stadium via Gate 7, which can be accessed via St Martin’s Way or Maskell Road.

Kids Zone

This will be open on Saturday. Fans will be able to meet Haydon, our favourite Womble, and there’s also plenty of fun activities for children to get involved with. The Kids Zone is positioned on the concourse behind the Family Section on the corner of the East and South stands. Specifically for kids aged between 5-12, it is open from 1.30pm to 2.45pm with activities organised on a rotation basis. Please note that children MUST be supervised by parents at all times.

Reusable Cups

We have a reusable beer cup scheme to replace all single use plastic pint cups around the stadium. Once you’ve finished your beer, please dispose of your cup within the reusable cup bins located around the stadium.
