Class of 2023 in focus

31 January 2023

We’re building up the next batch of future stars, with Wednesday’s FA Youth Cup game with Leeds United offering the perfect stage for our Academy players to showcase their progress.

The Dons play host to the Whites in a 7pm kick-off, knowing that a victory would take us into round five of a competition that we have a great history in.

Tickets can be bought on the gate or you can buy from our online shop.

Below is a run through from Academy Manager Michael Hamilton on each of the players in our Under-18s squad:

Harry Griffiths

A second year scholar, Goalkeeper Harry joined us as an Under-16 and has featured in every round of this season's competition, keeping two clean sheets along the way.

Luka Ziger

Luka is unfortunately injured, and it's likely that he will miss the rest of this season. We're all supporting Luka in his recuperation as he seeks to get back between the sticks as soon as possible.

Max Foulkes

A first-year scholar, Max is a goalkeeper currently gaining senior experience out on loan with Molesey. Featured for Wimbledon in the London Senior Cup tie versus Hendon Town on Tuesday night.

Jola Lahan

Centre-back who has been with the Academy for almost five years. He is a highly popular member of the squad and was a part of last season’s EFL Youth Alliance League winning squad.

Leo Young

‘Youngy’ has had an impressive first year as a scholar. The defender is Wimbledon through and through, joining our Academy almost 10 years ago, and he regards watching the 2016 Play-Off Final at Wembley as his club highlight.

Oliver Downs

Ollie is a local boy, having been born in Wandsworth. A left-back/wing back, Ollie is currently experiencing senior football with a loan at Fleet Town, having also been with the Academy for almost a decade. Ollie featured in Tuesday's London Senior Cup tie at Hendon.

Ibrahim Bangura

"Ibz" is a second year scholar who formed part of last season’s winning EFL Youth Alliance League squad. He was named captain of the Under-18s in the summer and has been a mainstay of the side this season. The highlight of his time with us so far was winning the Gallini Cup in Italy back in 2019.

Hugo Few

‘Fewy’ is currently recovering from a long-term injury so hasn’t featured much in this season's competition.

Morgan Williams

Morgan is a Welsh international who has been with the Club for over 10 years. He was part of last season's league winning team and also scored in the London Senior Cup Final two years ago versus Tooting and Mitcham United.

Paris Lock

‘Lockie’ etched his name in the history books when he scored the winner in the FA Youth Cup two seasons ago versus Burnley. He continued his relationship with the competition this season, scoring our victory in the previous round versus Leyton Orient.

Remi Onabanjo

Remi is a highly popular member of the squad who can play in a variety of positions. His stand-out performance was a swashbuckling display in the FA Youth Cup versus Spurs.

Aron Sasu

Aron is a second-year scholar who is capable of playing across the front line and has featured in every round of the competition so far. Aron made his international youth debut for Norway three seasons ago and was on the bench last week for the first-team game versus Bradford City.

Harry Sidwell

Central midfielder Harry is a first-year scholar who has featured in every round of the competition so far, with his stand out moment coming when he scored from 25 yards out versus Lewes.

Kai Jennings

Kai has been with the Academy for almost 10 years, but he hasn’t featured in this season's cup competition due to an injury.

Tom Wilson

Tom has led the line in every round so far, despite being a first year scholar. Tom is in double figures for goals this season and he's a boyhood Wimbledon fan.

Reuben Amissah

Reuben is a first-year scholar who is capable of playing anywhere across the front line and scored the in the 5-0 win versus Lewes in the first round of this season's FA Youth Cup.

Henry Russ

Henry has been with the Club since he was seven years of age. He is currently injured so will be cheering the boys on from the sidelines.

Sean Sankanu

Sean is a six foot, three inch centre-back who joined us this season, after impressing on trial. Sean featured in the London Senior Cup game versus Hendon.
