Special Stadium Event: Join us for Club Camembert

An alternative event at our stadium

20 July 2023

There’s an event coming up that will offer a completely different experience at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

That’s because we’ve got an alternative night of entertainment lined up for Friday 28 July (7 pm start) – and it’s particularly special for people of a certain generation.

“A Cheesy 90s Club Vibe” – Club Camembert - relives a golden age when there was a real transition in musical tastes enjoyed by the masses.

Daniel Pitt, who formed Reminisce Nights Promotions back in September, said: “I am from a generation that started going nightclubbing in the late 80s/90s when soul music was the main focus, but then it started transitioning to house and dance music. The 90s was a particularly special musical decade for people who grew up during that era.

“There are a lot of soul clubs in South London and clubs have reopened with hardcore rave coming back. What I wanted is a more relaxed and cheesy 90s vibe, so that people could come along for a night out, have a chat, and enjoy a sing-along.”

We’ll have three fantastic DJs to get you in the mood on the night with our very own Mikey T (Radio WDON) joined by Mista D and Mick Brown, who is a familiar voice from Capital Radio in the 1980s and 90s.

Hosted in our Phoenix Pub, this will be the third Club Camembert event that Reminisce Nights Promotions have organised with the previous events having been hugely popular, including a sell-out at Sutton United.

And there’s already been high demand for our event on Friday week, so we recommend booking soon to avoid missing out.

It’s also a source of pride for Daniel that he’ll be returning to a part of the world that’s very familiar to him.

“I’m excited by the prospect of bringing Club Camembert to Plough Lane,” added Daniel. “I’m not a Wimbledon supporter, but I previously came to games at the old stadium in the 1980s.

“I have great memories of going to Nelson’s Nightclub at Plough Lane. I was there the night before the FA Cup Final in 1988 and the next morning I got a call from a friend when I was in bed offering me a spare ticket for the FA Cup Final! That’s something I’ll never forget and I’m looking forward to visiting Wimbledon’s fantastic new stadium to put on a different kind of event for supporters.”
