Deanne Goring joined us earlier this year as our Head Physiotherapist, succeeding Tim Maynard who moved on to pastures new with Fulham.

It has been a busy few months for our newest recruit, with our current injury list being well documented, however as Deanne explains, she’s relishing her role with the Dons.

Tell us a bit about you. What’s your background and physio qualifications?

Hi! I’m Deanne, born and raised in South London (Brixton). I qualified in Sports Therapy in 2015 and then qualified as physiotherapist in 2020.

Was working in sports always your first option?

Never my first option ha-ha, I never wanted to work in football. I really wanted to get into MMA/Boxing but couldn’t find an easy route. So I thought I’d give football a try and I haven’t looked back since!

How did you first get involved in football?

I started working with Under-9 to Under-16’s at Stevenage’s Academy in 2015 and worked my way up to the Under-18’s.

I then went across to Sutton United as Head of Academy Medical when they got promoted into League Two. I also worked alongside the first-team for the first three months of the season. At the end of the 2021/22 campaign I played a role in helping them to gain category three status.

When did you learn about the job here?

I happened to see it advertised on LinkedIn. At first I was indecisive over whether I wanted to apply or not. I wasn’t sure if I was ready for the step into the first-team. However I pushed myself to go for it and I have enjoyed the challenge so far.

How has the transition been from your previous job?

The transition has been good there’s been a few times where I have been overwhelmed but that comes with starting any new job.

The gaffer, management team and players have all been brilliant with me and have helped to make the transition smoother. It’s a big adaptation but I’m relishing it.
