Young Dons remain in the hunt for honours

Loan Watch: Our weekly round-up

There’s still a lot at stake for some of our loanees as the season builds towards a big finish.

Zach Robinson remains on course for a Scottish Championship winners’ medal and promotion to the top flight north of the border with Dundee.

The striker played in a goalless draw with Cove Rangers on Friday night, the Dee lead the way by two points. Their final game though is away to second place Queen’s Park this coming Friday, which will decide who goes up automatically and who could end up in a play-off.

Fellow forward Aaron Cosgrave was back at our training ground on Friday, before heading off for the climax of King’s Lynn Town’s National League North campaign the following day.

Unfortunately, the Linnets were pipped for automatic promotion on the final day by AFC Fylde. They’ll now entertain either Alfreton Town or Kidderminster Harriers in the play-offs this Sunday, and if they get through to the final it will be on May 13.

Having already helped Basingstoke Town to the Isthmian South Central title, defender Ben Mason (above) is aiming to complete a double on Wednesday night.

The ‘Stoke face Romsey Town in the North Hampshire Cup Final at Whitchurch United. A week later, it could become a treble for Ben. Basingstoke take on the might of AFC Bournemouth in the Hampshire Senior Cup Final at Fratton Park, the home of Portsmouth.

Forward Paris Lock may also have a final to contest this Wednesday evening. Having helped Chatham Town over the line to Isthmian South East title, they now face Margate at Priestfield, the home of Gillingham, in the Kent Senior Cup Final.

Attacking midfielder Morgan Williams finished just outside the National League South play-offs with Eastbourne Borough. He did come up with an assist for their second goal though, in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Concord Rangers at Priory Lane.

Goalkeeper Max Foulkes was involved in a couple more wins for Molesey, who sit fourteenth in the Combined Counties League, Division One.

Max kept a clean sheet in Saturday’s 6-0 victory over AFC Aldermaston at Walton Road, having seen off British Airways 2-1 on Tuesday.

Our Under-18s faced a tough test when they travelled to the Brache training ground on Saturday morning to face high-flying Luton Town. The young Dons were beaten 3-1 at the table-topping Hatters in their latest Youth Alliance Merit League game. Reuben Amissah scored for our Academy.
