Loan Watch: Morgan’s cup experience could help Dons

A regular round-up of our players in action elsewhere

Morgan Williams gathered first-hand information over the weekend about Wimbledon's next FA Cup mission.

The attacking midfielder was part of a Woking side beaten 2-1 at eighth-tier Ramsgate, who we host in the Emirates FA Cup in early December.

It had started well for “Morgs”, after he set-up the Cards for the game’s opening goal early in the first half.

However, the Isthmian South East side turned the scoreline around with an equaliser before the break and another goal in the second half - a tie in which the young Welshman completed the full game for National League side Woking.

There were to be no giant-killing exploits for Ryan McLean on this occasion.

The winger, who scored our winner to knock Championship side Coventry City out of the Carabao Cup at the start of the season, was unable to help Kidderminster Harriers progress against League One Fleetwood Town on Sunday.

Ryan did come up with the assist though for Kidderminster’s shock opener just before half-time. It was short-lived though as the National League side conceded in time added on and again at the start of the second half, eventually going out 2-1 at Aggborough.

There were mixed fortunes for three young AFC Wimbledon players in National League South on Saturday.

Defender Ben Mason provided his first assist and played for 82 minutes of Braintree Town’s 4-1 victory over Havant and Waterlooville, although he was shown a yellow card early on at Cressing Road.

Centre-back Ethan Sutcliffe helped Tonbridge Angels to a point from their 1-1 draw with Chelmsford City at Longmead. Both goals in the game came from former AFC Wimbledon players.

Tonbridge skipper and man of the match Scott Wagstaff gave them an early lead, but Luke Jenkins equalised for the visitors in the first half and that’s eventually how it finished, in front of a crowd of 1,050.

Forward Paris Lock (pictured in action above) played the full game of Dover Athletic’s 1-0 defeat to Hampton & Richmond Borough at The Crabble. He created plenty of chances, but The Whites were unable to convert.

Defender Will Nightingale and striker Zach Robinson have returned to action north of the border.

It had been a month since Will last played for Ross County in the Scottish Premiership, but he came on right at the end of their two-all draw at Hibernian last Tuesday. He got more game time on Saturday, coming on as a first half substitute in a 3-0 defeat at home to Celtic.

Zach played for the last nineteen minutes of Dundee’s 1-0 victory at home to Livingston yesterday, having come on as a substitute. Before that, he’d last played on September 23.
