Another one! Ali wins fan award

Recognition for in-form striker

23 October 2023

Ali Al-Hamadi has been rewarded for his brilliant performances in September with the PFA League Two Fans’ Player of the Month award.

Our number 10 really hit his stride last month, racking up four goals – including a memorable hat-trick against Tranmere Rovers – and three assists as he led the charge from the front for the Dons.

Ali also experienced some success on the international stage, scoring his first senior goal for Iraq on the way to his country lifting the King’s Cup in Thailand.

It’s these performances that earned our striker recognition from Wimbledon and Football League fans across the country as he adds another individual award to his growing collection.

Here's what Ali had to say about winning his latest award.

Speaking after being handed the coveted trophy, Ali said: “It’s amazing. It’s nice to get recognised by fans who come to support me and watch the games. It’s a privilege and my hope now is that I can carry on my form for the rest of the season.

“Getting the goal in front of all the fans to complete my hat-trick was a special moment for me because my Dad was there as well. It was nice to have that moment with him there watching. We had a really good month as a team and as a squad.

“You choose how you feel heading into every game, I never let external circumstances affect me. I’m a big believer in the mind and how you manipulate your thoughts and your feelings.

“I’m in dreamland at Wimbledon, I love being at the stadium, I love the games and feeling the energy from all our fans. I’ve got such a special connection now with the Club and with the fans.”

Congratulations on your much deserved award Ali, from everyone at AFC Wimbledon!
