24 October 2023

Anticipation is building as we gear up to another exciting home match night – and there’s extra incentive to join us at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

That’s because we’re celebrating our annual Oktoberfest event, our second one since we returned back home, so join us early to sample a refreshing German tipple or two before the game!

And with encouraging ticket sales for a midweek home game, we’re expecting a fantastic atmosphere under the lights at our wonderful home.

So make sure you join us for another big Dons matchday – all you need to know ahead of tonight’s game versus Accrington is below.

Oktoberfest

The big night is almost here!

The sounds of Bavaria will provide a different vibe around the stadium as we’ll be joined by an Oompah Brass band – a hugely popular addition at last year’s Oktoberfest.

The band will first be playing in the hospitality lounges from around an hour before kick-off, before moving onto the area outside the Phoenix Pub. At half-time, they'll be making their way to the Cappagh Stand concourse and area behind the Reston Waste (South) Stand and Ry (East) Stand, so there'll be plenty of chance to enjoy their authentic German sounds.

A selection of German beers will be available, including Erdinger Weissbier, with Berlin Doner Kebabs and German sausages among the tasty savoury treats on offer in the Food Zone behind the Reston Waste (South) Stand.

Roadworks

If driving to the stadium tonight, please allow extra time for your journey as there are roadworks taking place on Plough Lane. This is likely to lead to queues, so we advise leaving early to make sure you're well in time for kick-off.

Opening times

General admission for home supporters is at 6 pm (entry via gates 2-5), but you can get here earlier to enjoy a pre-match pint in the Phoenix Pub (open from 5.30 pm via the Club Shop).

The away turnstiles (six and seven) will be open from 6.15 pm.

It's well worth first time visitors taking a look at a map of the stadium, plus other key details, by accessing our designated Matchday Guide section on the official website.

Pre-match tribute to Bobby

Please join us tonight in paying tribute to a true legend of football – the one and only Sir Bobby Charlton. There will be a minute’s applause before kick-off with players from both sides wearing black armbands.

Man of the Match presentation

This will be hosted in the Viticult Lounge after the match (at approximately 10 pm).

Those who have booked hospitality will be invited to stay on for post-match, but all supporters will be welcome upstairs to enjoy a drink or two and the entertainment.

For supporters not in hospitality, you will need to join a queue close to the autograph zone in the undercroft. You will then be shown to the Viticult Lounge/ Mezzanine area for the Man of the Match presentation.

If you are sitting in the Cappagh Stand for the game please use the stairs in the pub, or if you are sitting in the Ry or Reston Waste Stand, please make your way across the area behind the Reston Waste Stand and past the pub.

Unfortunately, no spectators will be able to leave the ground and re-enter to access the queue as this goes against our licensing terms.

Entry is on a first-come, first-serve basis, with fans will only allowed up once it is safe to do so after fans leaving the ground post-match.

For those not attending tonight, you can watch the big game on iFollow as the match is available to supporters at home and abroad. Purchase a match pass for £10 by clicking on the link below.

Club Shop

Make sure you check out the Club Shop before tonight’s game. We’ve recently topped up our leisurewear offering, including four new tees, a premium hoodie, two very smart knitted tops and a stunning new softshell jacket.

We’ve also received a fresh delivery of all playing shirts, including our popular black iris third shirt and yellow GK shirt.

Please note that the Club Shop will not be open at half-time or after the game tonight.

Programme

Snap-up your matchday ‘staple diet’ for another big Dons occasion!

The matchday programme is back (£3 per copy), and it includes an extensive interview with Harry Pell, who reveals his plans for after football – and the former Dons team-mates who put him in his place 10 years ago!

Bringing bottles into the stadium

We announced recently that supporters are permitted to bring drinks of water in clear plastic bottles into our stadium.

This will be in the form of 500 ml (or less) clear plastic bottles (an equivalent drinks container as used by children under 16 or those with medical requirements is also permitted). Bottle tops will also not be removed by matchday stewards.

Full Update

For containers not permitted (metal containers, as stated in the article), there is the option to leave them before the game at a collection point (by gate three) or on the level one concourse (gates one and two). You can then collect after the match.

Food and Drink

We’ve got one of THE best food parks around and you can also enjoy a bite to eat from kiosks in the Cappagh (West Stand).

Our Food Park, situated behind the Reston Waste (South) Stand features the best of several different cuisines, including Oktoberfest themed food for tonight! Food options for tonight includes:

  • Berlin Doner Kebab
  • German Sausages
  • La Posta
  • Dough Shack
  • Naked Chips
  • Ding Ding
  • MyPie
  • Come & Go (Souvlaki wraps – Greek food)

A wide selection of food offerings will be available from kiosks behind the Ry Stand and from the Cappagh Stand concourse, including the following:

  • Piglet’s Pantry pies and sausage rolls
  • Hot Dogs
  • Margarita Pizza slices
  • Dorito Nachos
  • Burgers including Vegan option

Our By The Horns Phoenix Pub is the place for quality beers, so enjoy a nice tipple or two after choosing from a wide range of culinary delights.

A quick way to get your pint is by utilising SwipeStation! Supporters can get a swift pint of Camden Pale Ale or Stella Artois from designated stations around the ground, including behind the Ry (East) Stand.

We'll also have six EBAR machines located around the ground on Saturday - three on the West Stand concourse and the others behind the Ry (East) Stand.
