Momentum is building as we gear up for a yellow and blue challenge around Wimbledon.
Yes, the Wombles Walk is gathering pace!
We're well on target to hit over 50 sign-ups for the event on 30 September before the Tranmere game, which is all for a great cause, as explained by Paul Munro, Head of Fundraising at our Foundation.
"Everything we raise will go towards inspiring active lifestyles for disadvantaged local children," said Paul. "Join in the fun and help us create a parade of yellow and blue. We'll be waving flags, singing songs, and celebrating our club around Wimbledon!
"Then we'll be heading back to Plough Lane - in plenty of time before the big game versus Tranmere - so hopefully it will be a double Dons celebration."
A bit more about the event
The 10km walk circles Wimbledon Common, so that means you can take a trip down memory lane to the place where AFC Wimbledon famously held football trials 21 years ago!
There's a 5 km walk or a 10 km equivalent, with both ending at the Cherry Red Records Stadium ahead of the game.
Walks are open to everyone and are non-competitive with the emphasis on fun.
The last Womble Walk event was a tremendous success - and we're hoping this one will be even bigger and better!
All participants will receive fundraising support, an AFC Wimbledon Foundation t-shirt and a training programme, created by Execfit, to help prepare for the walk.
There are rest stops with refreshments along the route and you’ll get your finishers' medal at our stadium before the game.
Aim of the challenge
All money raised will enable AFC Wimbledon Foundation to reach, engage and inspire 1,000 more local people each week - £20,000 as the ultimate target.
Entry requirements
Adults: £15 and a £100 fundraising target
Under-18’s: £5 and a £30 fundraising target
Entries are permitted right up until the day before - on 29 September.
There will be FREE match tickets for all fundraisers
