Debut Dons! Players who made a scoring start

A look back through history

6 February 2024

Ronan Curtis joined an exclusive club earlier this season as he netted on his debut for the Dons.

The mercurial winger scored with what was almost his first meaningful touch in yellow and blue, earning us an important three points in the race for the Sky Bet League Two play-offs.

It was a moment that will live long in the memory – and off the back of it we put our thinking caps on!

With several players in line to make their home debuts this weekend, we’ve brought together a list of players who had an instant impact in a Wimbledon shirt.

Watch and read about our selected debut goals down below!

Going back to 10 years ago, Charlie Wyke was on target as he made his first appearance in a 3-0 away win over Wycombe Wanderers.

The following season there were two debut goals on the opening day of the league season, with Matt Tubbs and Sean Rigg getting off the mark against Shrewsbury Town.

Jimmy Abdou burst onto the scene with a bang, scoring a well taken effort on a trip to Scunthorpe United.

Joe Pigott scored the first goal of many in a Wimbledon shirt, notching after being brought off the bench against Blackpool at Kingsmeadow.

Marcus Forss found the net with a brilliant back post header, the first of a successful loan spell from Brentford.

Some debut goals are stylish, such as Luke McCormick’s pin point free-kick away at Doncaster Rovers in the summer of 2021.

We also had another one this season, coming via the boot of Ryan McLean as he netted to knockout Coventry City in a Carabao Cup upset.
