For any match that Wimbledon play, the aim is to win a game of football – and that will be the target once again tonight in Buckinghamshire.
We know that this match can invoke emotions in a particularly strong way.
We know that Wimbledon fans have different approaches to tonight’s game, some wanting to be there in person to give vocal support to Johnnie Jackson’s men. Others will prefer to stay away - maybe watching the game on iFollow, or maybe not.
Everyone at the Club respects the decisions of every Wimbledon fan on this.
The only request, to those who are attending, is that you please make sure your support is positive for Wimbledon.
Please be mindful of your actions. Please refrain from any behaviour that will cause harm to the Club. We do not want to have to pay for repairs as we did after our last visit (and indeed we don’t want to have to send invoices to them later this season, as we did after they were last at Wimbledon).
Any costs are borne by us all – that means less for the team, or less to make improvements to our new home in Wimbledon, or to invest in our people. The rest of football wishes us well, but that goodwill can be harmed by behaviour which reflects badly on us all.
Unity and a shared passion for Wimbledon is what brought us here today – our own club, in our own stadium and having earned our own way back into the league - and more of the same will be very much appreciated tonight.
