Two Colours, Two Clubs

How two sides of the world united

29 January 2024

A distance of 6,906 miles separates Plough Lane and La Bombonera but the Dons and Boca Juniors are growing closer than ever.

The story began in the summer of 2023 with the release of our new Umbro home kit resulting in admiring glances from South America due to the similarities with Boca’s famous jersey – and that led to a number of their fans wanting to come and visit!

On Saturday that dream became a reality as the Boca Juniors Consulate in London paid a visit to the Cherry Red Records Stadium for our Sky Bet League Two clash against Mansfield Town (coincidentally another club that wears yellow and blue).

The Boca fans enjoyed a true taste of what Wimbledon had to offer, partaking in a stadium tour that was followed by a five-a-side match against Dons staff and volunteers and ending with a shirt and pennant exchange.

Our thanks goes to John Lynch and WiSH (Wimbledon in Sporting History) for helping to arrange the link with the Boca supporters.

Watch below as Guy and Val discuss their experiences of visiting the Cherry Red Records Stadium, whilst they also reveal how the two clubs are becoming more and more connected.
