When Nigel Higgs formed our Academy, then known as the Youth Development Programme, our first team were still competing in the semi-professional leagues and our young players were playing grass roots football.
From day one it was always Nigel’s vision to build an academy that developed not only players good enough for our first team but, more importantly, people the Club could be proud of. It’s this vision that has formed the core values the academy was built on and still live by today.
The Nigel Higgs Development Award is to highlight individuals within the academy who demonstrate intrinsic behaviours (away from the pitch), to better themselves and / or others and encourage them to think about how it’s up to them to set their own limits to what can be achieved.
