Loan extended for Dave

16 March 2015

An extra month for defender

Wimbledon have received a defensive boost ahead of the trip to Mansfield with Dave Winfield’s loan deal now extended by a further month.

An initial one-month loan agreement with York City came to an end after the 3-2 defeat at Exeter City on Saturday, but Winfield’s parent club have allowed the towering defender to stay for another month.

Winfield (pictured) has made six League 2 appearances for the Dons and his performances have impressed Wimbledon’s management team.

Speaking during an interview for Dons Player, first-team coach Simon Bassey said: “Dave had not played a lot of games this season, but he has acquitted himself well during a difficult run of fixtures. To come in and get up to speed as quickly as he has is a credit to him. He is a really good professional and that has shown in his performances. Deji Oshilaja and Dave have been excellent together and they have formed a good partnership. Hopefully, it will help us to finish the season strongly.”

The full interview with Simon Bassey will be on Dons Player shortly and an interview with Dave Winfield will feature on our premium channel later on.
