Watch the Rugby World Cup Final after Hartlepool game

We are pleased to announce that there has been a major cellar refurbishment at the club and this should ensure a significant improvement in the quality of beers served at the bars.

A new cooling system will ensure that lagers are dispensed ice cold with a new, independent cooling system for ales and bitters. The ale serving mechanism has been completely overhauled throughout both middle and back bars. Bars Manager Mat Ansell (pictured) has overseen the replacement of equipment with state of the art apparatus.

As part of the changes, the back bar will have two additional hand pulls with all ales working off new, independent pumps. This means that bar staff can serve Plough Lane Ale in both bars, along with a guest ale in both bars. Therefore, our friendly bars team will be able to serve up to eight different ales at a time.

Another major change is the introduction of a new wine selection brought in for hospitality diners to enjoy with their meals and Brewdog Punk IPA will now be served in a bottle throughout all bars (this will still be decanted on a match day).

This Saturday the bars will be open earlier than usual at 11.00 am due to the 2.00 pm kick-off and there’s plenty of incentive to make a day of it. Chelsea versus Liverpool will be shown live from 12.45 pm on TV screens and after the game supporters can stay on to watch the Rugby World Cup Final (4.00 pm kick-off). The match between New Zealand and Australia will be shown in all three bars and they will be staying open indefinitely.

Wimbledon Brewery’s Plough Lane Ale will be served in both bars. Hogsback TEA makes a return as the guest ale in the back bar and Elgood’s Cambridge IPA (4.7 per cent dark) will be featuring as our guest ale in the middle bar.
