Darius Charles and Tom Soares are edging closer to first-team returns – and Neal Ardley said that they are both already having a positive impact around the place.
Experienced centre back Charles (pictured) is making good progress after a knee operation and Neal has pencilled him in to play for our development squad in a friendly against Crawley on Monday, a match in which Soares will also continue his recuperation.
Speaking after last night’s 1-1 draw against Gillingham, Neal said: “We pulled them into a 20-man squad for this game and they were around the dressing room with the boys. They are fantastic characters. The boys look at them and they are both lads who you look at and go, ‘I will have him by my side’. There is a game on Monday for Reevesy and that will bring them right into the reckoning if they can come through that.”
