Amazing run recalled as part of kit launch countdown

The club’s new Admiral kits will be launched on Sunday, 29 June and we continue the countdown with a number that brought back memories of a remarkable unbeaten run for AFC Wimbledon.

Ray Armfield turns the clock back over 11 years to a defeat that proved to be Wimbledon’s last in a very long time.

22 – (22 FEBRUARY 2003)

Not the most inauspicious date in the calendar of AFC Wimbledon you may think because a 2-0 home defeat to table-topping rivals Withdean 2000 would consign the Dons to another season in the Combined Counties League. However, it would be their last defeat for 78 matches – setting a new record for senior football in the United Kingdom - until they went down by an identical scoreline at Cray Wanderers in December 2004. By this time they had gone unbeaten in the league throughout 2003/04 and had been promoted to the Ryman League with Dave Anderson (pictured centre above) as manager.

.Your AFC WimbledonIn association with Admiral Sportswear Limited, supporters will be able to see the club’s new home, away and third kits, along with training wear, for the first time, on 29 June, at Centre Court Shopping Centre. To view our previous announcement about this, click on
