Club represented at event attended by Mayor of London
The AFC Wimbledon Foundation supported “The Football Idea” launch on Wednesday with Mayor of London Boris Johnson in attendance.
A number of clubs from around the capital backed an initiative by the London Health Commission (LHC) to promote a healthy lifestyle through the power of football.
The LHC believes that London’s professional football clubs and their community schemes have a huge influence on the lives of people living in the city.
As part of a report issued by Lord Darzi (who is pictured above with Boris Johnson and children), the LHC proposes that clubs and community schemes work together to boost physical activity levels. “The Football Idea” plans to offer incentives and challenges between sets of fans at London clubs to promote healthy lifestyles.
As publicised on television earlier this week, Boris Johnson took part in a kick about on the banks of the Thames with 16 children wearing shirts from London clubs, including the blue and yellow of AFC Wimbledon.
