Dons bring Christmas cheer

Players and management in the community

AFC Wimbledon players brought smiles to the faces of young children at St George’s Hospital by delivering Christmas presents yesterday.

Eighteen first-team players, plus the managerial team, provided Christmas cheer at the Tooting facility after putting their own funds together to buy gifts.

Captain Alan Bennett said: “The lads all got together and agreed that we would love to make a visit to the hospital and deliver presents. We had a whip-round and bought around 50 presents from Argos in Feltham. Steve the manager at Argos was great with us.

“It makes all the difference coming here today because it puts things in perspective. You can get so wrapped up in football, but if you take a step-back then you see what other people are going through, especially young children. It’s brilliant to come and meet good people with positive attitudes and put smiles on the faces of young kids.”
