On-loan striker thanks Wimbledon support

Kwesi Appiah says that being at AFC Wimbledon has brought the best out of him as a player – and he was delighted to repay the fans for their support with a winner at Plymouth yesterday.

Speaking to Dons Player after his second goal in as many games for Wimbledon, the on-loan Crystal Palace striker (pictured above) talked about how much he is enjoying being a part of Neal Ardley’s squad.

“I feel settled here because things are going really well for me both on and off the pitch,” said Kwesi. “That’s showing with the goals that I’m getting and setting up. It’s been really good for me coming here. As a striker I love to score goals. If I’m putting the ball in the back of the net then that can only be a good thing. Jack Midson is a good player and I think that we’ve connected really well up there.

“The manager gives us instructions to take out onto the pitch so that we can produce and we did that today. Hopefully, we can now go on from this and take our form into the next game.”

A total of 270 Dons supporters made the long trip to Plymouth yesterday and Kwesi was full of praise for their contribution to the cause.

“We are very grateful for their support,” added Kwesi. “We know it’s a long way to travel and we appreciated their backing. Their support spurred us on, particularly towards the end when we came under pressure.”
