Wimbledon's number 10 on Newport County AFC clash
Jack Midson says he’s relishing his strike partnership with Kwesi Appiah as the pair aim to do more damage against Newport County AFC tomorrow.
Midson applied the finishing touch from 12 yards at Southend last week after Appiah had won a vital penalty and Wimbledon’s number 10 has enjoyed teaming up with the on-loan Crystal Palace man.
Speaking to Rob Cornell during an interview for Dons Player, Midson (pictured above) said: “Kwesi got a lot of boos from Southend’s supporters last week and he took a few knocks, but he showed his mental and physical strength to keep going. The lads have told him that he needs to score some goals, but he knows that himself!
“The work that Kwesi does off the ball is brilliant. It gives me an opportunity to get into the box and he is a good strike partner.”
Of course, Midson knows all about the challenge Newport will present tomorrow as there will be familiar faces in the opposition squad, but he says the Dons must concentrate on their own qualities.
“There are a few players that we’re familiar with and we’ve played them before, but the conditions played a big part in that game at Newport,” Midson added. “They play direct and we know they have some big lads like Lee Minshull. We’ll have to deal with that side of it, but hopefully we can cancel them out and concentrate on our own game. We should have enough strength and quality to shine through.”
