Neal to take a look at Doncaster left-back in friendly

Squad update from the training ground

By Rob Cornell

Neal Ardley will use this Saturday’s friendly at Boreham Wood, to take a look at Doncaster Rovers’ left-back Tyler Garratt.

“I’ve spoken to the Doncaster manager Grant McCann and he’s allowed him to come in and we’re going to have a look,” said Neal, in his update from the training ground for our premium iFollowDons channel. “He’s going to come in for Saturday’s game and play against Boreham Wood. We’ll have a look and cast an eye over him and he gets a bit of game time as well.”

Garratt was born in Lincoln and started at his local club Lincoln City, but joined Doncaster from Bolton Wanderers. The 21-year-old made over 20 appearances for Doncaster last season and has also previously had a loan spell with Eastleigh.

Having made seven signings already in the summer transfer window, Neal is looking to put the finishing touches to his squad before the window closes.

“We’ll keep chipping away; we’ll see where we go,” said Neal. “We might end up with one who can play centre-back and left-back, you never know, so we’ll keep looking at our options. We’ve made lots of enquiries, we’re just looking for clubs to conclude their business and see whether we get a chance of getting the players we want.”

The full interview with Neal, after a successful Family Open Day at the training ground and ahead of this weekend’s double-header against Havant and Waterlooville and Boreham Wood, is available on our video platform.
