Strutton makes his return

Striker back in full training after seven weeks out

Charlie Strutton today took an important step on the road to recovery by joining in full training with AFC Wimbledon’s squad.

The 23-year-old striker (pictured above with his man of the match award after the York City FA Cup win) has now put a troublesome knee injury behind him.

Strutton, who last featured in the first-team on 8 December at Barnet, has been nursed back to fitness by club physio Mike Rayner after having sugar injections in his knee.

Coach Simon Bassey says that Strutton is likely to be back in action in two weeks’ time with the London Senior Cup fourth round tie at Barking on 12 February as a possibility.

“Charlie looked a bit rusty today, but the most important thing was that he came through full training okay,” said Simon. “We are aiming for the Barking match for his return to action.”

Curtis Osano is expected to return to full training next week after suffering with a calf injury since the 2-2 draw against Wycombe Wanderers.
