Checkatrade Trophy draw to be held on Friday

Details about the draw for the last-32 of competition

13 November 2018

The draw for Round two of the Checkatrade Trophy will be made on Friday at 1.00 pm.

Live on TalkSPORT 2, two former winners of the competition, Leon Britton and Steve Claridge, will draw the teams out for the first knockout stage with David Prutton overseeing proceedings from Checkatrade’s Lakeside site in Portsmouth.

The draw will also be available to follow via @CheckatradeTrpy on Twitter.

Round one of the competition, featuring 64 clubs competing within 16 groups, is now in its final stages with remaining matches still to be played tonight and on 14 November.

A total of 32 clubs will be involved in round two of the competition with the draw split into northern and southern sections.  The winner of each group will be drawn at home and will play a runner-up of a group from the same region, but not from the same group they competed in from Round One. To ensure these conditions are met the Northern and Southern draws will be split into two separate draws – Draw A and Draw B.

AFC Wimbledon are guaranteed to finish as runners-up in Southern Group G with tonight’s match between Charlton and Swansea Under-21s deciding the winners of the group. Victory against Stevenage put Wimbledon through to the second round after the Dons had taken two points from the game at Charlton, thanks to a penalty shoot-out win (the picture above shows Mitch Pinnock and Joe McDonnell congratulating each other afterwards).
