16 not out for Radio WDON!

A landmark occasion for our club channel

18 September 2018

Tonight's match coincides with a landmark anniversary for our long-serving WDON service.

It's 16 years exactly since WDON commentated on their first AFC Wimbledon game – a London Senior Cup victory against Brimsdown Rovers!

Mikey T, who has been involved since the start, will be joined by Rob Cornell in the press box tonight for coverage of the Checkatrade Trophy game with WDON still covering all of our home and away games.

"With every year that passes on Radio WDON, we think back on all the matches we've covered, players we've commentated on and, of course, the immeasurable memorable goals and incidents that have occurred," said Mikey. "Tonight will have a certain resonance about it, as it will be the first exact anniversary date that coincides with the very same circumstances in which Radio WDON began, namely a home midweek cup game!

"There could in fact be another sense of déjà vu tonight, because there is the possibility of a penalty shootout, just like that very first broadcast in the London Senior Cup victory against Brimsdown Rovers! Whatever the outcome though, it remains an honour and a privilege to broadcast to the greatest fans in the world, all of whom are part of the greatest story in the history of football!

The picture above shows Rob Cornell and Mikey T in the press box with our American sponsor John Green and his son Henry back in March when they joined us for the win against Oxford United.

Tune into commentary tonight via our iFollow channel. Match passes to watch the game live can be purchased via the club's Match Centre.
