Dapo Mebude’s all-action debut resulted in Dons fans singing his name – and the on-loan Watford forward was quick to acknowledge the great support he received on the night.
“The travelling fans were amazing, they came in their numbers and supported us right the way through. It was obviously my debut, and what better way to cap it off than with a win and a place in the next round.
“The boys here have been very welcoming, so it’s not been too hard for me to settle in. We base ourselves on hard work, and if you do that your ability will come through in the end.”
Dapo was involved in the winning goal as he almost got on the end of that fantastic cross by Henry Lawrence, before Paul Osew found the back of the net.
“I thought he had missed, but I looked around and he was laying on the ground! I am just happy that he put it in the back of the net. It’s a team effort, so it doesn’t matter who scores – we just want to win the game and we’ve done that.”
