Ayoub Assal has won the EFL Young Player of the Month award for November after playing a key role in our unbeaten league run.
The livewire number 10 scored against Leyton Orient and Tranmere Rovers as we recorded two eye-catching 2-0 victories on home turf and on the road, earning him the nod over some notable names from higher divisions.
His performances in and out of possession underlined his importance within our side and now he has been duly rewarded for his strong showings in yellow and blue.
Speaking after receiving the accolade, which came after Johnnie Jackson received the Sky Bet League 2 Manager of the Month award, Ayoub said: “It’s a great achievement to win this award.
"It’s a compliment to myself for the work I’ve put in and also a compliment to the club and to the team. We’ve really kicked on over the past few months and this is the cherry on the top.
“I definitely feel like I’m playing my best football at the moment but as I always say, there’s still room for improvement. I can sharpen up in the final third off the ball but I’m getting there, slowly and gradually.
“Tranmere was a great three points on the road - that was my main highlight. Playing out wide gets the best out of myself and I feel it helps the team. Wherever the gaffer plays me, I’m happy to do a job. He has been really keen to tell me to take my opportunities when I have had the chance to shoot.”
