Don in the ring!

Champ out to prove doubters wrong

22 November 2022

Sniper The Boss, aka Lerrone Richards, is back and he’s calling for your support as he aims to take a step closer to fighting for world titles.

The 16-0 British, Commonwealth, European & IBO World Champion is set to face fellow Londoner Zak Chelli on Sunday 27 November at Alexandra Palace in what is being billed as a highly anticipated comeback.

You can snap-up your tickets for this headline event online.

Here, the Wimbledon fan discusses his upcoming fight and outlines his dream of fighting for a world title at our Plough Lane home.

“I haven’t boxed in over a year. It’s important for me to get back in the ring,” said Lerrone. “I’ve got a good fight ahead of me, I’m against a guy called Zak Chelli. He’s going to bring the heat and give me a good fight. After I beat him I’ll be looking towards world title fights.

“A lot of people are criticising me by saying that it’s a fight which is a level below myself, but I know Chelli is a good operator and I know that once I’ve beaten him, it will push me onto world level and put me into contention. I can’t wait to showcase my skills and my power.

“I get a lot of support from other Wimbledon fans and it’s something that’s very important to me. It gives me an extra buzz to go out and perform.

“The more people that come out to support me, the closer we get to the dream of hosting a fight at Plough Lane. I’d love to fight for a world title or defend one there. I resonate with the club because I feel it mirrors my career – we haven’t always had things easy but we always push ourselves back up again.”

Everyone at AFC Wimbledon wishes Lerrone the very best this weekend and we look forward to welcoming him back to Plough Lane soon.
