Striker Aaron Cosgrave made his first start for Southend United for nearly three months at the weekend.
The forward, on a season-long loan, played for 75 minutes for the Shrimpers in their 2-0 defeat at the EBB Stadium against Aldershot Town in the National League on Saturday. That was Aaron’s ninth appearance for the Essex club, who remain fifth in the table despite having lost their last two games, as they aim to return to the Football League.
Having scored eight goals in 19 appearances for Scottish Championship side Dundee, striker Zach Robinson missed the cup game against Airdrie. Zach had to come off in the previous league match against Hamilton due to a tight hamstring, but the injury isn't expected to be serious and he should be back soon.
The Isthmian South Central game between South Park Reigate and Basingstoke Town brought together two of our young professionals out on loan.
Defender Ben Mason and his Basingstoke teammates came away with all three points from a single-goal victory. Ben played the full game for his 14th first-team appearance. Attacking midfielder Marcel Campbell was an unused substitute for the hosts, who are eighth, while their visitors from Hampshire are up to fourth in the standings.
Goalkeeper Max Foulkes gained yet more valuable game time at senior level with Combined Counties League Division One side Molesey. He clocked up another 90 minutes in the 2-0 defeat at Penn & Tylers Green.
On Sunday, Max was at Newport County’s FA Cup game to support his elder brother Harrison, who is also a goalkeeper with Derby County. Harrison, previously with our Academy, was included in the Rams’ matchday squad for the first time, having been recalled from a loan with Kettering Town.
