Jack gets down to business

Left-back previews midweek clash

24 October 2022

When Jack Currie isn’t putting in swashbuckling displays for the Dons, he’s taking his studies into extra time.

In his first interview since scoring his first senior goal against Gillingham on the opening day, our Academy graduate lifts the lid on his university studies, becoming a favourite with the fans and maintaining his consistency throughout the campaign.

Here we look ahead to tomorrow night’s game as Jack brings us up to speed with how things are going from his perspective.

Watch the full interview on our Official YouTube Channel.

THE MOOD IN THE CAMP

It’s been very positive. It’s three points, we got the result, but what’s most important is that we build on it heading into our next run of games. We have to keep going. We can never be satisfied.

ASSISTING DAVISON’S GOAL

You know that Davo is just going to run and run. I just put it in an area to see what would happen and thankfully he tucked it away when we really needed it.

FACING CREWE UNDER THE LIGHTS

It’s always great to play in front of our fans at Plough Lane. I just hope that we can put in a performance that will get them up for it. We want to get the rewards from the good play that we have been working on.

BECOMING A FANS’ FAVOURITE

All I can do is work hard and play for the badge. That’s what I’ve been doing since the start of the season. The fans have been a massive part of that, they've lifted me and given me confidence. The main thing for me is that the team is doing well.

TAKING ADVICE FROM TERRY SKIVERTON

A lot of our strengths are in a back four. We’ve got natural full-backs. A lot of the advice that was given centered around protecting our goal, but we’re also told to play with freedom. At the same time, we also have to be a good unit and stay organised. I thought we did that for a lot of the game on Saturday.

STARTING UNIVERSITY

I recently applied to St Mary’s University and I’ve managed to get a place on a Business Management course. I’ve started the course and I’m really looking forward to it. It gives me something to focus on, alongside my football. It will allow me to improve myself outside the game.

At the moment, I’m finding my feet and looking towards where I’d like to go with it. It’s something that I’m very passionate about and I’ve always wanted to pursue it.

BIGGEST LEARNING EXPERIENCE

I’ve grown to understand how much every point matters. You’re going to get hurt, but it’s about maintaining consistency and focusing on the goal that we have as a team. I’m loving everything about it.
