An inspirational path from Plough Lane with Kevin

Dons fan led the way from our stadium

Dons supporter Kevin Webber continues to defy the odds in his battle against prostate cancer – and he provided plenty of inspiration yet again on Sunday.

Kevin, who has raised close to £1 million for the charity since 2014, walked all four days of Prostate Cancer UK’s Football March 2022, with the concluding leg starting at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.

For a sixth time, the leading men’s health charity visited football hotbeds and iconic venues across the nation and welcomed 89 fans on the 26.2-mile walk across London, the fourth and final day. Walkers had kicked off the event in Greater Manchester on Thursday, moving to the South Coast a day later, and the West Midlands on Saturday.

Speaking after completing the challenge, Kevin said: “As a man with incurable prostate cancer, I know first-hand what this disease can do to families and loved ones, and I’m forever grateful for everyone that took on these marches – and supported Prostate Cancer UK in so many different ways. Your support will help them achieve their long-term ambitions of a better test and screening programme, so that hopefully my boys will not have to go through what I have.

“I know how precious life is. People may say I’ve been dealt a bad hand, but I see it as the opposite. For me, it’s about making the most of every day and I hope my story can inspire others to do the same.”

Kevin is one of 38,269 men living with prostate cancer in London and it affects one in eight men in the UK. That’s thousands of dads, grandads, partners, brothers, uncles, sons and mates. By taking part in a Football March and raising money, supporters will help fund lifesaving research into earlier prostate cancer diagnosis, better treatment and essential support services.

Under blue skies, the walkers headed across the capital from the home of the Dons, led by inspirational Wimbledon supporter Kevin Webber, who marched each of the four days, once again defying his advanced prostate cancer diagnosis.

The final leg started at our stadium, stopping off at Brentford, Fulham, and QPR, before finishing at Millwall. Since 2016, over 2,000 football fans, supporters and personalities have marched across the UK for Prostate Cancer UK, visiting more than 100 clubs and raising in excess of £1.6m.

A total of £86,300 has so far been raised from the Prostate Cancer march and you can play your part by donating to this vital cause.
