Loan Watch: Zach attacks!

Forward continues to shine north of the border

Zach Robinson goes from strength-to-strength at the start of his season-long loan with Scottish Championship club Dundee.

The 20-year-old striker took his tally to four goals in seven games, three inside the last week, on Saturday. Having started and scored a penalty in the 3-0 victory at home to Falkirk last Tuesday, to book a place in the Scottish League Cup quarter-finals, Zach followed up with a brace at the weekend.

His first against Queen’s Park also came from the spot, but his second goal just before the break in another 3-0 win was something special. Our Academy graduate fired the ball from 30 yards out into the top corner, as he went on to earn the sponsors’ man-of-the-match award.

Fellow forward Aaron Cosgrave played for 64 minutes on his fourth appearance for Southend United, a 2-1 defeat to Torquay United at Roots Hall in the National League. Chris Wreh, his replacement, scored a late consolation, but it was former AFC Wimbledon striker Corie Andrews who set up the first goal in the win for the visitors from Devon.

There were mixed fortunes for two of our young defenders in the first qualifying round of the FA Cup. Ethan Sutcliffe came into Salisbury’s starting line-up, who went on to book a place in today’s draw following a 2-0 victory at Poole Town. Ben Mason made his debut and set up Basingstoke Town’s first as they pulled a goal back against Weston-super-Mare, but the tie ended in a 4-2 defeat for the Hampshire hosts.

Young goalkeeper Max Foulkes gained more vital experience with Molesey. He figured in their 1-0 defeat to Hillingdon Borough at Walton Road in the Combined Counties League Division One.
