Homecoming is a real family affair for Frances

We were delighted to be joined by Frances and her family on Saturday

Wimbledon has earned a reputation as a real family club – and that was certainly the case when Frances Louth made her emotional Wimbledon homecoming on Saturday.

Eighty-six-year-old Frances was a special guest at our game versus Swindon after making a valuable contribution to the memorabilia collection for WiSH (Wimbledon in Sporting History).

And it was certainly a special occasion for Frances as four generations of her family were represented!

The picture above shows Frances with daughter Angela Thom and her husband James Thom, and her Grandson Kris with his son (Frances’ Great Grandson).

WiSH Managing Director John Lynch said: “We were delighted to be joined by Frances as our guest in the Silver Lounge on Saturday. It was the first Wimbledon match she had attended since we left Plough Lane all those years ago. Her children gave Frances a stadium tour here as a gift for Mother’s Day and since then we’ve captured her memories on video.

“Frances has donated an amazing collection of programmes from the 1920s to WiSH. Her father Arthur was a big Wimbledon supporter and it’s important to her that the programme collection is enjoyed by true supporters rather than just collectors of sports memorabilia.”

Do you have any historical Wimbledon items that you would like to donate?

If so, please let John and his team know as they will be put to great use – preserved by WiSH for sharing in stadium displays with Dons fans of today and the future.
